When we talk about contemporary photography, the name of Steve McCurry is inescapable. In fact, for more than 50 years, the world of photography has had a figure like him: an icon not only of street photography but also of war photography. McCurry has covered conflicts all over the world, including the civil war in Libano, in Afghanistan, the Gulf war, the civil war in Cambodia, the conflict between Iran and Iraq and the uprising in the Philippines. His work has appeared in the most important international publications and he has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1986. Over time, however, Steve McCurry has chosen to document not only conflicts, but also endangered cultures and traditions, immortalising faces that have become iconic through his famous portraits. Non-posed shots ranging from New York to Kashmir, from South Africa to Mexico, passing through Myanmar, Niger, Tibet, Cuba, France, Mongolia and Italia. The sight of children, women, old people, teenagers offers a glimpse of the everyday life in the world and in the wonderful diversity of global habits.
