ARTIST:
Robert Indiana was born in New Castle, New Jersey. When he moved to New York in 1954, he joined the Pop Art movement. He called himself "The American Sign Painter". He created an original art style that explored American identity. His works can be seen in various personal and collective exhibitions, in famous museums around the world such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Robert Indiana died in Vinalhaven at the age of 90.
