ARTIST
Marco Lodola was born in Dorno. He attended the Fine Art Academy in Florence and Milan. His references were the Fauves and especially Matisse. At the beginning of the 80's, Lodola and other artists founded an artistic movement called "Nuovo Futurismo" (New Futurism), whose main theoretician was Renato Barilli. This new artistic movement was inspired by the historical avant-gard of the Futurism and it's based on the exaltation of modernism, reworking it through new canons and with a bursting and omnipresent push towards new art forms.
Lodola combined visual art with other disciplines: literature, music, film, design. He soon began to use plastic materials that he shaped and colourerd with a personal technique using acrylic paints. Later his research led him to try incorporating light into his works, physically. This led to the creation of luminous sculptures, plexiglass statues illuminated from the inside with luminous tubes, which characterise all his work.
From 1983 Lodola exhibited in Italy and abroad, his works are present in various museums, he has created scenarios for films, concerts, television programmes and events. He has worked in particular for the theatre and the fashion industry, creating posters and shop windows, works for commercial, charitable and purely artistic purposes. His passion for music has led him to collaborate with various artists on album covers.
